California Consumer Affairs Association Web Destination

The California Consumer Affairs Association was an interesting project for OrgSpring. Our team wholeheartedly believes in the mission of, to protect consumers from unscrupulous business practices, fraud, and credit related matters; which is why we severely discounted our fees to develop a website for this important organization. It was also one of the first full custom designs to be integrated into our new nonprofit network of sites Р

Anyone can build a website, but at OrgSpring, we build Web Destinations.

A web destination is a place where visitors go to get information about your cause, but end up staying because not only does the site answer their every question, it also draws them in with outstanding content, graphics, and an undeniably easy to navigate user interface.’s web destination started with a conference call to determine the needs of the client and the desired web features. The site was being built around an annual conference, now in it’s 37th year. The organization had previously been unable to update its website when the original developer stopped supporting it.

We create a custom site from the ground up on the Thesis Theme Framework, and coded it to always show the current year’s conference featured speakers and workshops. The blog was developed to show news updates, articles of interest to the organizations member list (now several thousand people large), and upcoming legislation affecting consumers.

The conference, taking place in Long Beach, CA draws anywhere from 200 to 2,000 people depending on how wide they decide to open the event, but make no mistake – it sells out every year. As a gathering of the country’s superstart law enforcement officials and nonprofit consumer affairs organization, the California Consumer Affairs Association conference features speakers like attorneys general, US attorneys, treasury representatives, and members of the Federal Trade Commission.

We built them a custom form application using Gravity Forms to take information on registrants, specifically to determine which law enforcement branch they were with, and validate that data in the back-end of the website for approval before issuing e-tickets for the actual event.

Finally, as with all our premium network members, OrgSpring supports the website 100%. For the CalCAA team members we include webinar training showing them how to navigate the back-end of the site, and also more than 40 tutorial videos showing them everything from how to add posts and pages to modifying graphics and site settings.

Finally, and if that wasn’t enough, we included access to our exclusive customer forums, custom web wiki, and the ability for the admins to submit support tickets directly inside their WordPress panels, to which we can respond directly, or, with their permission, fix the problems directly for them.

The site is scalable to include an e-store, member database (with protected content areas), payment processor, and custom post types for future years’ conferences. All of this for a small monthly fee that is lower than what most web designers charge for just a simple plugin.
